(Dorotheanthus bellidiformis) Annual. This mat-forming succulent mix blooms summer-long with daisy-like flowers in a rainbow of red, orange, yellow, pink, purple, and white. Ice Plant has strong drought tolerance and grows well in dry, hot locations such as rock gardens, border fronts, and makes an effective ground cover. Also does well in containers.
To Grow:
Direct seed in late fall or start indoors in spring by sowing seeds on top of moistened seed starting mix and place it in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks, then sow outdoors after frost. Seed can also be started indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date, then transplant seedlings outdoors after last frost. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover them with soil because they need light to germinate. Keep moist until established.
