(Daucus carota) Biennial. Versatile and easy to grow, this wild carrot is sure to add whimsy to the vegetable and flower garden. Umbels of white flowers appear mid-summer attracting beneficial pollinators. The taproot is long and tapered, with a sweet and slightly earthy flavor, and can be used fresh or cooked in a variety of dishes. Makes a lovely and long-lasting cut flower and has been used for centuries medicinally.
To Grow:
Direct sow in early spring for summer flowers or sow in fall for flowers the following year. Can start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Gently press seeds into soil and lightly cover. Light is required for germination. Keep evenly moist until germination.
