(Atriplex hortensis) A multi-purpose cool season leafy plant grown for its beautiful edible ruby red foliage. Also known as French Spinach, can be prepared in place of its name’s sake, or grown as an ornamental as its red color is quite striking mixed upon other plants’ greenery. A nutritious, colorful, and savory microgreen. Flowers make a unique addition to a garden bouquet.
Orach is one of the oldest cool season crops originating in Egypt and Europe. Seeds can be used to make blue dye or crushed and added to flour for baking. Leaves are used fresh or dried in tea.
Also know as Mountain Spinach, Garden Orach.
